Accessing Pathways for Outreach
"Emergency" Pathway
"Time Sensitive" Pathway
"Mindful Planning" Pathway
- An emergency is defined as an urgent, sudden, and serious event or an unforeseen change in circumstances that necessitates immediate action to remedy harm or avert imminent danger.
- Due to the status of an emergency outreach, an active session must be paused and/or all participants sent home to address the emergency at hand.
"Time Sensitive" Pathway
- An active OUT LOUD session must be paused and redirected to focus and hold space for the outreach at hand. If it is determined that the nature of the outreach is able to be fully resolved or adequate adjustments and/or accommodations are able to be put in place temporarily while the collaborative further problem solves and/or engages with putting our outlined Pathways & Policies into action, an active session can continue as planned.
- This pathway should be preceded by a one on one and/or group follow up conversation with all necessary parties to assess next steps within OUT LOUD's established Pathways & Policies.
- An active session being adjusted or accommodations being put in place to support the access needs of all involved can take many forms. Because of this, it is important for all parties to be able to clearly communicate their individual needs, including if they need to tap out, allowing the space to be able to hold what is best for the individual and for the group at the time of the outreach.
"Mindful Planning" Pathway
- Space is given to follow the established Pathways & Policies, including OUT LOUD's models for engaging with Collaborative Conflict and Harm Reduction & Relationship Repair.
- This pathway asks that outreach is not sought during an active session, but arranged through an email outreach, and/or through a conversation before or after an active session to schedule a time to connect on the phone, over virtual platforms, or in person in a location that feels comfortable to adequately be able to prepare and hold space for the outreach at hand.
- This pathway aims to hold space for all parties involved (including facilitators, guides, management, core ensemble, collaborative panel members, and/or chosen representatives) to assess if they have the current capacity to engage with the outreach at the time of the outreach. If the party that is receiving the outreach does not currently have capacity at the time of the outreach, it is their responsibility to redirect the outreach to the next appropriate channel with the given permission of those conducting the outreach.
Whether a form of outreach is accessed as "EMERGENCY", "TIME SENSTIVE", OR "MINDFUL PLANNING" - all forms of outreach will engage with OUT LOUD's Relationship Repair Q&A Model to initiate a conversation, follow up on a reported harm, or clarify the nature of a given outreach in relationship to the desired outcome moving forward, including but not limited to options for supportive services and options for collaborative next steps.
