Ethical Volunteer Model
The entire OUT LOUD collective - from Leadership, to Core Ensemble Members, to our Collaborative Panel, to Resident Artists, to Season Ensemble members, to Guest Artists/extended collaborators - have all consented to participate through an Ethical Volunteer model, acknowledging that our time, creativity, and engagement is valued, respected, and rooted in building a community driven space for all involved. Our desire to remove this phase of our collaborative development from financially driven, transactional creativity and collaboration is a conscious and mindful decision on the part of the OUT LOUD collective at this time. Principals to upholding this model are rooted in a 100% autonomous structure where each individual has the ability to dictate their level of involvement, capacity, and ability to participate at any given point of our process. Each element of participation has built in "creative lifelines" allowing a sustainable path for radical flexibility and forward motion and growth. This in embodied through our. "Tap in when you can / Tap out when you need to" can refer to the process of recognizing, communicating, and implementing and building individualized pathways regarding comfortability, accessibility, and overall capacity - mental, physical, spatial, and emotional - for any creative process at any time for any reason.
Ongoing Research & Development:
Ongoing Research & Development:
- OUT LOUD acknowledges that the ability to participate solely through a Volunteer model, no matter how autonomous, fluid, or ethically sound, is inherently not accessible to everyone due to varying financial statuses and overall financially driven access needs. As our ultimate goal is ongoing accountability and accessibility for all, our collective is dedicated to the continual exploration of a egalitarian model that allows for ongoing opportunities for equitable financial support and compensation while allowing the engagement with OUT LOUD to primarily remain a fluid/expansive collective removed from financially driven and transactional creativity / collaboration that is whole heartedly centered around the humanity of the all those involved.
- Our 2023 Collaborative Panel is actively working towards research and development regarding these types of models for the future, currently centered around ongoing discussion and “wide net” conversations regarding our immediate and long term goals surrounding this topic. We look forward to sharing our findings at the end of the year.
