"Antigone is a story about justice. Following your moral compass, and doing what you think is right. OUT LOUD has adapted this Greek tragedy focusing on the people who are in power, juxtaposed with the PEOPLE, who have the power. It is for today. It is for you and I, right now. It has been a truly ensemble-led process, allowing for each member to take ownership of the piece. Every rehearsal has prompted each of us to turn our insides out, and put our guts on the table. The result of this is a production that, so far, has been extremely personal. Exploring such a place of vulnerability is, for me, an amazing part of the practice of theatre, and a gift that I’ve been given in working with OUT LOUD. Within this ensemble we have lifted each other up, held each other close, and through that we are on our way to presenting a production I will never forget." - Erika Rethorn, Antigone
Featuring Season 4 Ensemble Members Ottavia De Luca, Kerry Giorgi, Patricia Hawkridge, Siobhan LaPorte-Cauley, Sarah Leach, Erika Rethorn, and Melanie Stone

THE VALLEY BREEZE Preview Article: Pawtucket’s Hawkridge plays a role fit for a king in Out Loud Theatre’s ‘Antigone’
Pat Hawkridge finds her new project both “thrilling and terrifying.” She’s tackling the role of King Creon in “Antigone,” now on stage at Providence’s Out Loud Theatre. The role is typically played by a male actor, but director Kira Hawkridge (Pat’s daughter) decided to cast the Greek tragedy completely with women. “Why not?” says Kira. “Our exploration of this story goes beyond gender norms and allows for a fluidity to exist in all of the characters.”
