Spring 2026
Collaborative Writing Workshop: The Alchemy of Image
SATURDAY FEBRUARY 21, 2026 | 12pm-4pm @ THE HAWKRIDGE CENTER FOR THE ARTS
Guided by OUT LOUD Theatre Founding Artistic Director, Kira Hawkridge
"Collaborative Writing: The Alchemy of Image" invites us to "explore our relationship to imagery & image based prompts" by guiding participants through a series of expansive image based writing prompt structures, perfect to utilize at any point during your writing process. Whether you are writing as part of a collective, engaging with your work through a solo lens, just beginning, or hitting a mid-process roadblock - this workshop will provide a wide range of tools rooted in world and character building that work to connect you to yourself, your senses, and the internal, emotional life of your writing, regardless of genre.
GUIDE BIO:
Kira Hawkridge is a multidisciplinary artist, the Founding Artistic Director of OUT LOUD Theatre, and the Founding Creative behind the unique Ensemble Methodology, “Collective Breath”, which has been engaged with across New England. MORE ABOUT COLLABORATIVE WRITING:
Participants will be guided through three stages throughout the workshop - Part 1: Reflect, Part 2: Explore, and Part 3: Create.
In Part 1: Reflect, participants are guided through a series of personally driven image based writing prompts, aimed towards connecting deeper with the self.
In Part 2: Explore, participants are guided through a series of image based writing prompts aimed towards unlocking the potential to trust and follow our creative instincts in an open and exploratory space.
In Part 3: Create, participants are guided through a series of image based writing prompts that springboard off of the work done in Parts 1 and 2, resulting in a final product that will be presented and shared with the group.
Overall learning goals consist of providing holistic and logistic pathways for participants to connect more deeply with their sense of self, to unlock the potential to trust and follow their creative instincts and to then be able to channel these experiences onto the page through a more structured writing objective, all through exploring our individual and collective relationship to imagery and image based writing prompts, resulting in a final product to be presented and shared.

Pathways & Policies
The HCA is dedicated to establishing and embodying a culture of communication, empathy, and care rooted in Awareness, Connection, & Trust. Our goal is to foster safe spaces for all artists to create, collaborate, and build community together as we explore and share our collaborative work. Learn more about OUT LOUD's growing Holistic and Logistic "Pathways & Policies", rooted in ANTI-RACIST, ANTI-OPPRESSIVE, & ANTI-HARRASSMENT practices, upheld by The Hawkridge Center for the Arts.
Accessibility: There are two designated handicap parking spots located directly in front of The Mills building along with an expansive parking lot with accessible spaces throughout. An accessibility ramp is located in the front of the building, providing access to the front door marked "ENTRANCE". In addition, members of our collaborative team will welcome individuals at the front door, facilitating elevator access to and from the third floor, and/or providing directions to the two staircase options provided, for all participants. Restrooms are located within the studio space / in close proximity to the studio space (down the hall). Various comfortable / sturdy seating options of varying sizes and heights are available within the space. A refrigerator is available for participant use for any dietary needs. The room is scent free / temperature controlled.
Access Needs: An access need is defined as anything a person requires in order to fully be able to engage in their environment or community. For example, this encompasses anything that a person may desire or require to communicate, learn, participate, and/or take part in an activity - mental, physical, spatial, and/or emotional. Access needs are subject to change and evolve at any time, so continual flexibility and communication with our ensemble are vital parts of our overall process and methodology. Our goal is to create flexible and expansive access for all ensemble members, with open pathways for holistic communication built into the fabric of our collaborative. The HCA looks forward to working one on one with our ensemble members and members of our community to best meet the individual and collective needs of all involved.
